Inspiration for small houses

Inspiration

Following me here for a while and reading between the lines you will know that I am interested in small houses and small living. Tiny House Design is my weekly reading and I still follow ISBU News, although I think that containers are not the first choice, at least not standard units. Today I combine some discoveries from the last weeks: an abandoned reefer, two art projects and a simple ceiling. There are no small houses but it is a source of inspiration for me. And with a little imagination you can see the "house" in them.

  • Reefer found on a military training area nearby Münster
  • Art projects and ceiling: Fachhochschule Münster, FB Design

Homes on the moveAnd I found a great book these days: "Homes on the move: Mobile Architecture" written by Donato Nappo and Stefania Vairelli. Texts in English and German. The authors describe a lot of different homes, most of them mobile and because of that small. The books is available at Amazon for 14,95 EUR.

Abandoned reefer.
Corrosion as a consequence of insufficient maintenance.
About 12 square metres inside.
Insulated floor... how about floor heating?
Art project made from pallets.
The shape looks like a house.
Creating some rooms,
offering interesting perspectives.
Stylized construction, not functional.
Brandnew.
Light weight and fragile.
Combination of existing materials.
Cosy place.
Ceiling with indirect illumination.
