One step forward
The trip with the ferry from Stockholm to Tallinn takes 15 hours. I booked a bed in a shared 4-bed-cabin, knowing about the high chance of having someone in there who snores. But I didn't expect that someone can produce noise that makes my earplugs fail. The man from Azerbaijan snores and talks while sleeping. I keep my good mood and accept only light rest for the night. At 8.00 I get up and enjoy the first views towards Estonia. I am allowed to leave the ferry as one of the first; that's an ease because of all the running engines on the car deck. Tallinn welcomes me with sun and mild temperatures.
And with a lot of very different impressions in quick succession: modern architecture, functional buildings looking like copied from South Algeria and houses from before the Soviet time; huge, expensive cars, trolley buses and antique looking trams; lost drunkards, old gammers, Russian looking business men and super chic young ladies; free wifi everywhere, residential areas according to Socialistic standards, large shopping Western looking malls and streets with deep pot-holes... all in a mix. I am fascinated.
My couchsurfing host Barbara shows me around, we visit a nice couchsurfer meeting and have some drinks in the old town. This is another interesting experience of Tallinn, very varied cafes, bars and clubs.
I will stay in Tallinn for a while. Want to see and experience more...
